The denim has a subtle fine twill texture, and has been washed down to achieve a smooth black tone, soft to the touch. The unexpected detail of the bery red and white stripe inside hem binding adds a subtle pop of colour, whilst the box pleat at the back neck yoke allows the softness of the shirt to fan out elegantly. Trimmed with creamy Codelite® buttons to finish, giving this reimagined classic a luxe feel.

Clothing Care | Wash less, love always

We recommend hanging your shirt to air outdoors, rather than washing after every wear. This way, it will last longer and also have a lower environmental impact. Spot clean marks with warm soapy water, and when it does need a wash, follow our care advice:

- Machine wash 30 degrees
- Wash with similar colours
- Medium iron
- Do not bleach
- Do not tumble dry

A note on our Japanese denim and Codelite® buttons

Our Lela Shirt is crafted from premium Japanese cotton that’s been woven with three textured yarns of different weights for a unique finish, by artisans using traditional techniques in Ibara, Japan. Dyed in rich black, we’ve washed it down further to give it a soft appeal whilst maintaining its deep black tone. Our cotton is also certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, which means it’s completely free from chemicals harmful to your skin. Handmade in the UK, in North East London at MAES, makers of expert craftsmanship just down the road from the Saywood studio, keeping our carbon footprint minimal.

For our buttons, we’ve used Codelite®, as it’s a natural material made from casein, a protein derived from milk. Codelite® is also biodegradable, which means your dress’ impact on the environment once it reaches the end of its lifecycle will be reduced further.
